Silvia, a client I’ve been working with for a while, reports that in her emotional relationships, she inevitably encounters a sense of abandonment and rejection. We had previously worked with the NLP timeline; today, I decided to apply a specific use of the timeline that I learned from Andrea in an advanced TAI course. At the present point, I invite Silvia to associate with the problematic feeling and then to go back along the timeline, identifying all the points of discomfort that resonate with the initial feeling. We find several, all perceived very physically: one involving the stomach, one the plexus, and another in the head, neck, and shoulders.
After reaching the birth point, I invite Silvia to continue walking along the timeline until she finds a point where she feels completely free from the initial problem. Luckily, my house has enough space, and as Silvia continues to walk along the timeline, she leaves the room where we are working, crosses the hallway, enters the living room—which, although quite large, she crosses entirely—and starts to come back. I reassure her, saying that the timeline is elastic and can wrap back and forth on itself many times if needed. But it isn’t necessary, because halfway through the hallway, Silvia stops and says that after feeling something like a jolt on her forehead, she now feels completely free from the problem. Here, I have her pronounce the TAI phrases: “I release all the energy…” and after a while, “I let go of all my attachments…”
As she retraces the timeline, the points where she previously felt discomfort are now neutral, except for one where there is still a trace of the initial sensation, as well as in the present. We proceed to apply TAI until Silvia feels completely at ease. I then ask her to pronounce the phrase, previously defined, that states what she desires in place of the problem: “I direct all available energy to the balanced manifestation of strength, presence, and ability at my current age.” We finish with “I adapt all my energy…”
In the present, Silvia now feels perfectly comfortable and confident that she can approach this once-difficult issue in a new way. As an additional test, I ask her to step into the near future, and I closely observe her expression and posture, which are perfectly congruent with her statement of feeling solid, present, and calm.
Since TAI on the timeline is an advanced procedure occasionally presented (at Andrea’s discretion) in TAI courses, I haven’t gone into the details of the various steps necessary for the technique’s success. With this, I wish to offer my testimony as a “professional” with more than thirty years of experience in body/mind rebalancing, of how EFT, even in its various elaborations inspired by Andrea’s creativity, continues to prove itself as a gracefully magical and effective tool for help.
